The Two-Toned Wolf Spider -Hoggicosa bicolor is a species of Australian wolf spider belonging to the family Lycosidae. It is endemic to Australia and is typically associated with arid and semi-arid habitats, especially sandy or loamy soils, where it lives in burrows or other sheltered ground retreats.

This species is a fast, ground-dwelling active hunter that does not build webs to capture prey. Instead, it relies on keen vision, vibration detection, and rapid movement to locate and ambush small invertebrates. It is generally nocturnal, becoming most active at night when it emerges from its burrow to forage across the ground surface.

It is usually recognised by its robust build, long legs, and contrasting two-toned colouration, which provides effective camouflage in dry, open habitats. Adults are typically medium to large for a wolf spider, with females generally larger and more robust than males. Its burrowing habits and active hunting behaviour make it an interesting species to observe.
