Tasmanicosa gilberta is a species of Australian wolf spider in the family Lycosidae. It is endemic to Australia and is typically found in open habitats such as grasslands, heathlands, woodlands, and sandy or disturbed ground, where it shelters in burrows or shallow retreats in the soil.

Like other wolf spiders, it is a fast, ground-dwelling hunter that does not build webs to catch prey. Instead, it uses keen vision and vibration sensing to locate and pursue small invertebrates on the ground, usually becoming most active at night.

Adults are medium to large in size, with females typically larger and more heavily built than males. Its burrowing lifestyle and nocturnal hunting behaviour are characteristic of the genus.
